Day 1 :

Trekking from Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Morning
After breakfast and a pre-trek briefing, drive from Arusha to Marangu Gate (approx. 1-hour drive) where you'll register and begin your journey. The trek starts in the lush rainforest, a tranquil area filled with towering eucalyptus trees and abundant wildlife, including colorful birds and black-and-white colobus monkeys.
Afternoon
Arrive at Mandara Hut (2,700 meters) after an enjoyable 3–4-hour hike. Take an optional side trip to Maundi Crater for breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes stretching into Kenya and northern Tanzania.

Day 2 :

Trekking from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Morning
After breakfast, continue through the rainforest and transition into the open moorlands, filled with stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s peaks and unique flora, such as giant lobelias and groundsels.
Afternoon
Arrive at Horombo Hut (3,700 meters) in time for lunch. Take the rest of the day to relax, allowing your body to adjust to the increased altitude.

Day 3 :

Trekking from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Morning
Depart Horombo Hut after breakfast, heading into alpine desert terrain and crossing “The Saddle,” the barren stretch between Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks. As you gain altitude, take in the rugged, moonscape-like surroundings.
Afternoon
Arrive at Kibo Hut (4,700 meters) by afternoon. After dinner, rest and prepare for an early summit push.

Duration: 5–6 hours

Day 4 :

Summit Attempt and Descent to Horombo Hut

Midnight
Begin the final ascent around midnight, trekking up steep scree or snow towards Gilman’s Point, then continuing to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point at 5,895 meters. This challenging climb is rewarded with awe-inspiring views at sunrise.
Morning
Capture the moment with summit photos, then begin the descent, stopping for rest and lunch at Kibo Hut before continuing down to Horombo Hut for the night.

Distance: 6 km (uphill) & 15 km (downhill)

Day 5 :

After breakfast, continue your descent through the heathland and rainforest, passing Mandara Hut on the way to Marangu Gate. At the gate, celebrate your achievement, collect your summit certificate, and meet the transfer vehicle to return to Arusha.
